Jira Dashboard for Stakeholders and Executives: what to show and what to leave out
Executives don’t read burndown charts. They want delivery confidence, allocation and risks. Here is how to turn Jira data into those three answers.

Executives and stakeholders rarely open Jira, and when they do, a burndown chart doesn’t answer their questions. They want to know: will it ship on time, where is the team’s effort going, and what are the risks? A stakeholder dashboard turns Jira data into those three answers.
What stakeholders actually want to see
- Delivery confidence: progress on the epics or releases they care about, in plain percentages.
- Allocation: the split between new features, bugs and maintenance.
- Trend, not snapshot: is delivery speed stable, improving or slipping?
- Risks: a short list of blocked or overdue items, with an owner.
What to leave out
- Story points and individual velocity (easy to misread outside the team).
- Per-person workload (creates the wrong conversations).
- Raw issue lists of more than 10 rows.
Building a stakeholder view in Jira
- Create a separate dashboard just for stakeholders; don’t reuse the team’s.
- Add a Filter Results gadget of epics with status and due date.
- Add a Pie Chart on issue type for the last 30 days as an allocation proxy.
- Add a Created vs. Resolved chart for the quarter.
- Share it with the stakeholder group, or screenshot it into your update.
Stakeholder reporting with PM Overview
PM Overview includes an allocation breakdown built for stakeholder reporting, alongside KPI and progress tracking. Product managers use it in sprint reviews and monthly updates, so the numbers come straight from Jira instead of a spreadsheet.

FAQ
How often should I send stakeholders a Jira report?
For most teams, after each sprint review plus a monthly roll-up. Weekly is fine for launches.
Should executives get access to Jira?
Only if they will use it. A shared dashboard or a short recurring update usually works better than another license.
Up and running in 2 minutes

- Open your Jira project and click PM Overview in the project navigation (or under More).
- Pick a board and sprint. The dashboard fills itself from your existing Jira data. No gadgets, JQL or spreadsheets to set up.

Great to use so far. I was looking for a time tracking and resource allocation dashboard.
